Schecter Stiletto Extreme-4 Review

The Good: Attractive design and finish, great build quality, active electronics, comes perfectly set-up from the factory.

The Bad: Optimized with heavier genres of music in mind.

The Verdict: What is supposed to be a budget Schecter bass guitar, delivers outstanding performance in a very interesting design. Schecter Stiletto Extreme-4 is absolutely worth picking up, especially if you play rock/metal.

Overview

Schecter Guitar Research delivers an extremely attractive bass guitar that not only follows their policy of hard hitting sound, but also offers a performance that makes it practically undervalued. Schecter Stiletto Extreme-4 really impresses with its abilities and what it brings to the table compared to other guitars in its price range.

Design

Schecter Stiletto Extreme-4 sports a very sleek and attractive body style that is both comfortable to play, and just a treat for the eyes. The finish is amazing, like on most Schecter models, and the Black Cherry theme is simply incredible. The body is made of mahogany combined with a maple top, while the neck is made of pure maple. Fretboard bound, and made of rosewood while it features 24 jumbo frets. Interestingly enough, the neck is bolted to the body using six bolts. This definitely increases the neck rigidity, and reduces the chances of deformation.

Features

Schecter Stiletto Extreme-4 is a very versatile bass guitar to say the least. It's no secret that Schecter's main specialty are instruments designed for heavier genres of music, and that is something Schecter Stiletto Extreme-4 really does well. As for other music styles, it performs great but definitely faces some limitations. Schecter Stiletto Extreme-4 sports Diamond series active electronics that comes with 4 controls, and features an EQ. The sound is sharp and very well defined. Neck is fast and slim, which makes it both comfortable and easy to play.

Once you un-box a Schecter Stiletto Extreme-4, you will notice that it comes ready for action. It's one of the things Schecter is very proud of. There is no setting up necessary, and the bass is simply on point.

Specifications:

  • Mahogany and maple body design
  • Maple neck
  • Bound rosewood fretboard
  • Schecter Diamond active electronics with EQ

Conclusion

Schecter Stiletto Extreme-4 is a very well balanced bass that reflects everything Schecter as a company is about. It's attractive, comfortable to play, and leans more towards heavier sound, but is versatile enough to be used for most genres of music.
